My Story

Welcome to Meg Roulston Ceramics! I'm Meg, and I enjoy creating ceramics that are both beautiful and practical, perfect for your everyday life and special moments.

Handmade with Heart

My love for pottery began with childhood memories of my Dad (a hobby potter) working on his wheel in the garage. I have fond memories of visiting local potter Royce McGlashen's studio and being captivated by his creations, and attending pit-firings.

I didn’t start my own adventures in clay until my 30s, when I joined a night class at Canterbury Potters Association. After years of exploring pottery as a hobby, I built my own home studio and started sharing my work with others

Functional and Beautiful

In my collection, you'll find a variety of handmade ceramics, including my latest favourite garlic/ginger grater. It started as a request from a friend and turned into a daily essential in my kitchen. I also love making plates and bowls because I believe food tastes better when enjoyed on handmade dishes. My customers often tell me that my pieces are treasured additions to their homes.

Inspired by Nature

Living in Southshore, Ōtautahi Christchurch, I'm surrounded by the estuary and sea. The natural colours and landscapes around me influence my work, bringing a bit of New Zealand's beauty into each piece.

I use mainly locally sourced New Zealand clay (though some clay, such as the BRT I use, comes from Australia).

Be Part of My Story

I invite you to explore my collection and join me on this journey. Whether you're looking for something special for your home or a thoughtful gift, I hope my ceramics bring a touch of joy to your everyday moments.

The heartfelt feedback from my customers inspires me every day, and I'm thrilled to share my work with you. I love hearing from the people who use my ceramics, so feel welcome to ask me any questions or share any feedback.

I am happy you are here.
